The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested six suspected cult members in connection with an attempted murder case, marking another breakthrough in the state’s campaign against violent crime. The suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation after police launched an investigation into an attack believed to be linked to cult-related rivalry.

Police identified the suspects as Owolabi Oluwapelumi (28), David Adeleke (28), Oluwatoba Alo (30), Olamilekan Junior (27), Segun Bidemi (29) and one other suspect, all of whom are currently assisting investigators. During the operation, officers recovered weapons and other items believed to be connected to the crime. Authorities said the arrests followed credible intelligence and sustained surveillance by operatives of the command.

According to the police, the suspects are being investigated for their alleged roles in the attempted killing, while efforts are ongoing to determine whether they are linked to other cult-related incidents within and outside Ekiti State. The command added that additional arrests could be made as investigations progress and more evidence is gathered.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eliminating cultism and other violent crimes, assuring residents that security operations would continue across the state. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could help law enforcement agencies identify criminal hideouts and prevent future attacks.
