Heavy security in Kano as court begins hearing on Emirate scuffle

There is heavy presence of security personnel in and around the Federal High Court in Kano, as hearing begin on the emirate struggle for power in the state.

It was reported that policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have manned their vehicles in strategic places around the court, restricting movement, according to Daily Trust.

The hearing was scheduled to start earlier this week, but was affected by the nationwide strike embarked upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC). The case emanated following the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir.

A Federal High Court in Kano had issued an order stopping the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law. Justice Mohammed Liman granted the order in an application by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate.
