A graduate of Lagos State University (LASU) is receiving treatment after being struck by a stray bullet when suspected armed robbers attacked the residence of a Point of Sale (PoS) operator in the Igando area of Lagos State. The incident occurred on Sunday along Kayode Onafuye Street in the Alhaji Ede area after the assailants allegedly trailed the PoS operator to her home.

According to eyewitnesses, the four-man gang arrived on two motorcycles and first searched the victim’s nearby shop before proceeding to her residence. Unable to gain access after occupants locked the entrance, the attackers reportedly became frustrated and opened fire indiscriminately. During the shooting, the LASU graduate, who was passing through the area and preparing for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was hit by one of the bullets. He was rushed to a nearby General Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Police officers were immediately deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call, and investigators recovered several spent bullet shells from the area. The incident has heightened concerns among residents over the growing threat posed by armed robbers targeting PoS operators, who often handle large amounts of cash and have increasingly become victims of violent attacks.

When contacted, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson CSP Abimbola Adebisi said she had not yet been briefed on the incident but promised to verify the report. Meanwhile, residents have urged security agencies to strengthen surveillance and patrols in the community to prevent further attacks and ensure those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
