Marriage, children, are not achievements — Etinosa Idemudia insists

Nigerian actress Etinosa Idemudia, in a recent interview, shared her views on success, personal growth, and what she would teach her future daughter.

According to her, marriage and childbirth should not be seen as measures of achievement. She emphasised that success depends not only on hard work but also on grace and divine timing.

“The difference between successful actors and those who are not successful… I feel like it’s grace. Hard work is part of it, but I can never say hard work is all of it,” she said.

Talking about lessons for her daughter, Etinosa highlighted self-esteem and self-respect as essential values. “If I don’t teach my daughter anything, I will teach her how to respect herself, how to value herself,” she said. She added that a woman with strong self-respect is less likely to be disrespected by others.

Discussing gender dynamics, Etinosa pointed out that women are often judged more harshly than men in society. She mentioned that successful women are frequently labelled as “Ashewo” even though some men also sleep with others to achieve their goals.

Etinosa further encouraged women not to envy others but to find inspiration instead, noting that women often face tougher judgment than men in similar situations.
