Microsoft 365 Outage Enters Second Day as Search Problems Persist
Microsoft has restored much of its Exchange Online email service, but users are still experiencing problems with search and other features across Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Microsoft’s widespread Microsoft 365 service disruption has entered its second day, affecting users across several major workplace and productivity services. The incident began on August 31, when Microsoft started investigating a rise in reports involving Exchange Online. While much of the email service has since recovered, the company is still working to resolve remaining issues.
The outage initially caused problems with Outlook and Exchange Online, including email delays, failed messages and authentication issues. Microsoft later tested and deployed mitigation measures, allowing much of the core mail flow to recover. However, the disruption appears to have extended beyond email, with users continuing to experience degraded functionality in other Microsoft 365 services.
According to the latest reports, search functionality remains one of the biggest unresolved problems. Users may experience difficulties searching for emails, documents and other content across Microsoft services. Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft 365 Copilot have also been affected by related issues, creating challenges for businesses that depend on Microsoft’s cloud ecosystem for daily operations.
