Police Arrest Four, Recover Generators Stolen From INEC Office in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged theft of six generators from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Jega Local Government Area. Police said detectives were deployed immediately after receiving a report of a break-in at the facility.

According to the police, the operation led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of all six generators. However, one of the generators had reportedly already been dismantled into scrap parts before it was recovered.

The arrests were part of wider police operations against property-related crimes in Kebbi State. In a separate case, police also arrested suspects accused of allegedly vandalising electrical infrastructure and stealing aluminium cable wires in Dudduke village in Jega Local Government Area.

The Kebbi State Police Command said all the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue. The police stated that those found to have a case to answer would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Umar M. Hadejia, warned against vandalism of critical infrastructure, breaking and entry, and theft of government property. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies to help prevent crime within their communities.
