Security Forces Intensify Search for Attackers After Deadly Assault

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed that 13 people were killed in a recent attack on communities in the state and announced the commencement of a coordinated clearance operation aimed at tracking down those responsible and preventing further violence.

According to the police, tactical teams have been deployed to the affected area, where they are carrying out intensive operations to restore order, secure surrounding communities and pursue the attackers. Authorities said the operation forms part of broader efforts to stabilise the area following the deadly incident.

Commissioner Leads Security Response

Benue State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, led security personnel to the affected communities after receiving reports of the attack.

The command said officers immediately moved into the area to assess the situation, protect residents and prevent any further assaults. The police also noted that additional security personnel have been deployed to strengthen operations as clearance efforts continue.

Clearance Operation Underway

Police said the ongoing operation is designed to comb nearby forests and other locations believed to be used as hideouts by the attackers.

Security operatives are also working to gather intelligence that could lead to the arrest of those behind the killings. The command assured residents that every available resource is being deployed to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Residents Urged to Remain Calm

The police appealed to members of the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist ongoing investigations.

Authorities also encouraged residents to report suspicious movements or activities, stressing that community support remains vital to the success of security operations across the state.

The latest incident has renewed concerns about persistent attacks in parts of Benue State, where several communities have experienced recurring violence in recent months.

Police maintained that the clearance operation will continue until those responsible are apprehended and normalcy is fully restored to the affected communities.
