An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Bala Wakili, has been killed during a fierce exchange of gunfire between security operatives and suspected bandits in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The confrontation occurred after police responded to intelligence about an impending attack, leading to a gun battle that forced the armed suspects to retreat.

According to police authorities, the operation was launched to stop the bandits from carrying out their planned assault on nearby communities. During the firefight, ASP Wakili sustained fatal injuries while confronting the attackers.
