Police Recover Body of Federal University Kashere Student in Gombe
Authorities launch investigation after 28-year-old undergraduate found dead in stagnant water

The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the body of a 28-year-old student of the Federal University Kashere, identified as Enoch Sunday Maisamari, after he was found in stagnant water at Sabon Garin Yero Village in Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed the incident in a text message sent to journalists on Friday.

According to Abdullahi, the police received a report of the discovery on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at about 9:30 a.m.
“The Gombe State Police Command received a report on 22nd July, 2026, at about 0930 hours of a recovered motionless body of one Enoch Sunday Maisamari, 28 years, a student of the Federal University Kashere, from stagnant water at Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko LGA,” he said.
No Visible Signs of Violence, Police Say
Following the report, the victim’s body was taken to the General Hospital, Kashere, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
Abdullahi said preliminary observations revealed no visible marks of violence on the deceased’s body.
“The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body. Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he added.
Investigation Ongoing
The police said efforts are ongoing to establish the exact cause and circumstances surrounding Maisamari’s death.
The command appealed to residents to remain calm while investigators continue their work.
