Real Warri Pikin Cancels Show Over Tribal Division in Delta State

Popular comedian Anita Asuoha, known as Real Warri Pikin, has cancelled her upcoming show in Warri, Delta State, citing what she describes as “unfortunate divisions” within society.
She announced the cancellation in a statement shared on Instagram, expressing disappointment over ongoing divisions in a state where unity should prevail.
In a heartfelt video, Real Warri Pikin said being an entertainer from Delta State is ‘very exhausting’ because of the tribal divisions.
‘’The disunity in my state is very tiring, especially among the Ijaws, the Urhobos, the Itsekiri..I am not saying don’t fight for what is right, but does it always have to be violent? Does it have to be oppression? I have been a victim of bullying and oppression in Delta State for the past eight years. I don’t know it all. Growing up, everywhere was called Warri. Now things are changing; people are reclaiming their lands. It’s okay…but why do you have to bring me down because I made a mistake
She mentioned that the indigene of the event centre she had scheduled to host her show vowed to disrupt the event because she included Warri in the publicity she had for the show. They insisted that her show should have been tagged ‘’Real Warri Pikin live in Uvwie’’ and not ‘’Real Warri Pikin live in Warri’’ because Uvwie is different from Warri.
‘’They said I should take down the billboards, social media posts, the radio jingles, take down the roll-up banners; they wrote a petition. They said the show will never hold and that on the day of the show they will come and scatter everything. Some others are saying, “Even the Warri in my name I should remove it.’’
She said the whole situation has been very tiring.
