Flying Eagles begin 2025 U-20 AFCON with victory over Tunisia

 

The Flying Eagles hav e started their 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations campaign.on.a victorious note, pipping Tunisia 1-0 at the June 30 Stadium, Cairo

The Nigerian junior football side and the Tunisian foes battled to take control of the match early on with the young Carthage Eagles coming close to scoring twice through Khalil Ayari and Omar Ben Ali.

As the game went on, the Flying Eagles gained confidence, with their main striker Kparobo Arierhi coming close within one minute.

The Nigerian youngsters later shot into the lead seven minutes before half time, all thanks to a well worked out goal netted by Auwal Ibrahim.

Ibrahim was provided the superb pass by left-back Emmanuel Okoro, with the striker expertly placing the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Thomas Zouaghi.

Unsettled by the Nigerian opening goal, the Tunisian side went in search of an equalizer, pinning Nigeria back for majority of the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.

The Flying Eagles, who are led by Coach Aliyu Zubairu will confront Morocco in their second group game on Sunday.
