Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators and recovered N5.302 million allegedly being transported as logistics support for terrorists in Zamfara State. The arrests were made during separate military operations across the state on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.

The Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said troops also responded to a suspected improvised explosive device near Jabanda village in Zurmi Local Government Area. Working with a police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, the troops cleared the device, searched the road and reopened it to motorists after confirming it was safe.

During another operation near Birnin Tsaba in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, troops engaged terrorists who fled into the bush, leading to the recovery of two motorcycles, a camouflage jungle hat and a handheld radio. In Shinkafi Local Government Area, troops and mobile police officers also recovered a motorcycle, two camouflage uniforms, a vest and a jungle hat after engaging suspected terrorists around Kwanar Jolof.

The task force later arrested 35-year-old Lawali Dan Alo during a patrol near Maradun after a search of his bag uncovered the cash and a mobile phone. The military said preliminary questioning indicated that he was allegedly delivering the money on behalf of a terrorist leader to Kasimu Garba, who was subsequently arrested at his residence. Both suspects remain in custody for further investigation.
