Why I Wore ‘Bring Them Home’ Jacket at FIFA Concert — Davido

Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has explained why he wore a custom-made leather jacket bearing the names of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State during his performance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles.

The award-winning singer said he used the global stage to draw attention to Nigeria’s worsening security challenges and the plight of the victims of the May 2026 abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to Davido, the jacket was created to honour the victims and amplify calls for their safe return. The black leather outfit featured green pins carrying the names of the abducted pupils and teachers, while the back displayed the bold inscription, “Bring Them Home.”

The abduction, carried out by armed attackers, reportedly involved about 39 pupils and seven teachers.

Davido’s appearance at the high-profile FIFA event quickly attracted international attention, with videos and images of the symbolic jacket circulating widely across social media, sparking renewed conversations about insecurity and the need to secure the victims’ release.
