A 55-year-old man, Idowu Alade, has escaped from a kidnappers’ hideout in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, leading to the arrest of two suspected members of the gang. Alade was reportedly abducted on August 21 at Aroge Camp, near Idoani, while he was on his way to buy a recharge card.

According to the police, Alade’s community began searching for him the following morning after he failed to return home. Operatives of the Idoani Police Division, working with the Amotekun Corps, Ose Bravers Vigilante Group and local hunters, subsequently launched an intensive search of the surrounding bush.

The victim eventually escaped at about 4 a.m. on August 23 while his captors were reportedly asleep. He trekked through the forest before emerging in the Ifira area, where security operatives located him and arranged medical attention for injuries he allegedly sustained during his captivity.

Following his rescue, a red alert was issued across the area, leading to the arrest of Usman Shaibu, 25, and Sanni Musa, 27. Police said Alade identified the suspects, while his mobile phone was recovered from them. The suspects allegedly provided information about other members of the suspected syndicate, and the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.
