The Premier League have pushed back a meeting with clubs other than Manchester City to discuss their recent legal battle.
Executives from England’s top flight have had to postpone their scheduled meeting with the other 19 clubs in the division following Manchester City’s recent legal victory regarding commercial deals.
The Premier League champions won a case regarding associated party transactions, which are supposed to ensure any sponsorships linked to the club’s ownership represent fair market value.
After City complained that their rules were misleading, it was declared that the current regulations were void.
City sent a letter to other clubs threatening further legal action should any new rules be immediately imposed.
The scheduled meeting between those observing and the Premier League was due to discuss how they should respond to the outcome.
Now, everyone has been left in the dark and is awaiting a new date in the middle of an already busy campaign.
Last week’s case was one of several incidents brought to the attention of the courts regarding Manchester City.
The main case involves whether City have broken the rules when it comes to financial fair play and spending over the last few decades, which, if they are found guilty, could lead to points deductions or even relegation from the Premier League.
While City’s legal representatives continue to defend the club in court, the players and manager are pushing hard for a fifth consecutive Premier League title.
They return to action against Wolves this Sunday as they look to keep pace with Liverpool at the top of the table.
