How Ojuolape Adeorike Ashimolowo transformed to Ojubabe
Children learn what they live, says Dorothy Nolte in her popular poem of the same name.
This has always been used to explain why offspring often follow their parents’ career path as it is in the case of Ojuolape Adeorike Ashimolowo, otherwise known as Ojubabe who recently followed the footsteps of her mother, an Abuja spa owner, to own a business in the beauty sector when she founded Braided Wigz by Oju (BWBO), a ready-to-wear braided wig business.
Prior to this, the Ilesha, Osun State indigene, who was born in Lagos, has already found fame as a broadcaster with her Instagram show, Shoot Your Shot Singles (SYSS) with Ojubabe, which she started during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. With a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, she could as well have had a career in broadcast journalism, especially with her love for iconic TV women such as Oprah Winfrey and Christiane Amanpour. Hence, when the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown handed her the opportunity, she took it with both hands.
Now famously known as Ojubabe, Ojuolape Adeorike Ashimolowo has an impressive academic and career record before venturing into show business and full entrepreneurship.
The alumna of Mcnair High School, Atlanta Metro College and Georgia State University, where she earned a BSc in Mass Communication, had worked for five years with Delta Airlines, before shifting her career focus from aviation to IT. Within two years, she became an IT consultant for companies providing technical solutions in the medical field.
With the founding of her Braided Wigz by Oju (BWBO) hair business and her SYSS show waxing stronger, she has taken to full entrepreneurship and is working on expanding her business enterprise into other areas where she has cognate experience.
