Aisha Ochuwa mentors OOU law students on entrepreneurship, honoured for impact
Aisha Tella Ochuwa, the Group Managing Director of Aisha Ochuwa Limited, which comprises Aisha Ochuwa Jewellery Limited, Aisha Ochuwa Luxury and Bespoke By Aisha Ochuwa, left law students in the Faculty of Law, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, craving for more on May 30, 2024, during a visit to the institution.
Aisha Tella Ochuwa, a successful jewellery merchant transcending Nigeria and Africa, was at OOU on the invitation of the law students to speak on: “Transitioning from the legal career to the business world”.
The Aisha Ochuwa Limited Group CEO, a lawyer and thriving businesswoman, started what has become a conglomerate today with a little capital during her undergraduate days; one of the several criteria that underlines her as the most suitable resource person for the occasion.
Each brand under the Aisha Ochuwa Limited has broken barriers in catering to the diverse needs of categories of clients in different dimensions of demand. The multi award-winning business strategist and investment consultant, who also holds a Diploma in Criminology, enlightened the students on the intricacies of running a successful business, from start to finish, stressing that entrepreneurship is a challenging yet rewarding endeavour. She broke down the essence of owning a business and the importance of brand exposure for patronage and profitability.
“You have to put the word out there, if you do not expose your brand to the people, they will not know about your brand because it is information received that is processed,” she said while addressing the gathering.
As an expert in entrepreneurship, the GMD of Aisha Ochuwa Group Limited entertained questioned from the students. She harped on courage to start, which she blamed on fear of failure. Aisha Tela Ochuwa urged them to kick start whatever business idea they have without waiting for huge capital and also persevere, even when confronted with challenges.
“There are a lot people that come up with brilliant ideas at some point but never followed through why” Because of fear. It is all a mind game, it’s all in your head, I promise you, that restriction is in your head. The very minute you break out of it, you will see yourself doing things you never imagined. Yes, a lot of people have thrown away even brilliant business plans that they’ve drafted because of fear. Fear has made a lot of great men die with their talent. Fear has restricted people from showing themselves approved to the world, even though they know deep down in their heart that they have it. The very first thing you must do before you start a business is to work on your mind. Do you know there is nothing like failure? That is my own theory. What happened? You’ve only made mistakes and when you make mistake what do you do? Do you give up? You go back, look at that mistake you have made and see how you can turn those beautiful broken pieces into a work of art. Don’t be afraid to start,” Aisha Ochuwa said.
After the highly impactful session, the Law Students Society of OOU presented an award to Aisha Tella Ochuwa, for her contributions to the “mind growth and development” of the law students.
