AFRIFF 2024: Celebrating African Storytelling and Honouring Herbert Wigwe
The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is set to captivate audiences once again with its 13th edition, running from November 3rd to 9th, 2024.
This year’s theme, “Indigenous to Global: Cultural Wealth for Global Prosperity,” highlights the festival’s commitment to showcasing the rich tapestry of African storytelling.
AFRIFF 2024 will also pay homage to the late Herbert Wigwe, a visionary in Nigeria’s creative economy, with the introduction of the Herbert Wigwe Trailblazer Award.
This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth of Africa’s cultural and creative industries.
The inaugural recipients include Afreximbank President Benedict Oramah, founder of the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX), and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu
The festival will also feature a diverse lineup of films, including the opening night film “Headless” and the closing night film “Out of Breath.” Other notable films include Kunle Afolayan’s “Recall” and BasketMouth’s “A Ghetto Love Story.”
AFRIFF 2024 will also host a series of special events, including Co-Production Day, Animation Day, Television Day, and Afro-Unity Day. These events will provide opportunities for filmmakers, industry professionals, and enthusiasts to network, collaborate, and explore the latest trends in African cinema.
