Asake drops first song under his new label ‘Giran Republic’

Celebrated Afrobeats singer, Asake, has released his first single ‘Why Love’ under his new label ‘Giran Republic’.

The ‘Yoga’ crooner dropped the 3-minute song alongside the video on Wednesday.

This starts a new beginning in Asake's career after quitting YBNL Nation, the record label owned by Olamide.

Asake's new song, produced by Magicsticks, has a similar amapiano-inspired vibe and features Asake’s romantic lyrics delivered in his signature laid-back tone.

‘Why Love,’ released under Giran Republic and Empire Music, is coming on the back of Asake’s surprise release ‘Military’ where he announced that he is in a new era.

In December, the Grammy-nominated artiste made shocking adjustments to his Instagram profile, removing YBNL from his bio and adding “creative director”.

Asake also stopped following everyone on the platform, raising speculation about his relationship with Olamide and the label.

Earlier in the year, Asake also changed his look by revamping his hairstyle and getting new tattoo drawings.

Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake shot to prominence in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. Two years later, he joined YBNL.

He was nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category, which was won by Tems.
