Baba-Ahmed says Tinubu has failed to improve quality of life of Nigerians

A former special adviser on political affairs to the president, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has lambasted President Bola Tinubu’s administration for not being able to improve quality of life of Nigerians.

Speaking on Channels Television, Baba-Ahmed added that Tinubu has failed to meet expectations to improve on the quality of governance.

“Clearly, the Tinubu administration has failed expectations that it was going to radically improve the quality of governance,” said the former spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum

Baba-Ahmed not long ago resigned as special adviser on political affairs in the office of the vice-president.

He stated that the performance of the
administration’s should be judged not only by international ratings and statistics but also by the tangible impact on citizens’ lives.

“They will tell you they are doing great with all the World Bank statistics, all the international ratings and everything, but that’s not the only measures you use to measure a government; you measure by the way citizens live, and if that is the yardstick by which we are going to measure this administration, then clearly, the Tinubu administration has failed expectations that it was going to radically improve the quality of governance of President Buhari,” he said.

He advised the president to tackle corruption and insecurity, mitigate poverty, and put considerable time to infrastructure and social development.

Baba-Ahmed stated that the removal of the petrol subsidy by Tinubu has significantly impacted the quality of life for average Nigerians.

He said further thatTinubu should use his presidential power to ensure that money sent to governors, especially those of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is used judiciously.

“So much waste, so much abuse of resources and corruption going on,” he said.
