BBL not for me – Caroline Igben

I’m very confident. I love my skin colour a lot"

Caroline Areoghene Igben, a fast-rising actress from Delta State, is charting her course with confidence and authenticity.

As cosmetic enhancements like liposuction and the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) become increasingly popular, especially among celebrities, Igben is clear about her stance.

In an interview with Saturday Sun, she asserted that she would never consider altering her body to achieve a certain look.

“BBL? Nope. I will never consider going through that at all. But I do not judge those who do it. I think the nicely done ones are beautiful but it is not for me,” she said.

Reflecting on her earlier years, the dark-skinned actress admitted that she once believed light-skinned women were more beautiful. But now, she walks with a “certain awareness” and embraces her natural complexion with pride. “When I was younger, I used to think light-skinned women were more beautiful, but right now, I’m very confident. I love my skin colour a lot”

When asked if she ever felt tempted to lighten her skin to fit in, Igben credits the people around her for helping her see her beauty.

“No, I wasn’t because I had certain people in my life who made me feel super beautiful. But, I sincerely think with maturity and self-awareness comes a certain confidence of knowing who you are and how people’s opinions on what they consider beautiful shouldn’t faze you.”

Speaking on the dark side of Nollywood, the newly married diva revealed that she has not experienced the practice of exchanging sexual favours for roles.

“I hear about it, but I haven’t experienced it. I do get requests to go on a lunch date with producers. I see it as a man trying to get to know you, but whatever their intentions are, I can’t say, but you definitely can’t be forced to date someone you are uninterested in,” she concluded.
