Charity Aiguobarueghian moves motions for people oriented bills in Edo House of Assembly
Member representing Ovia North-East One Constituency, Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian, has sponsored two landmark and people oriented bills which include a bill for law to establish the citizen right and dispute resolution agency, as well as a bill to amend the Edo State College of Agriculture and natural resources law 2019
While moving a motion for the reversed appropriation bill to be considered in the floor of the house for second reading, Charity Aiguobarueghian said that while the economic plan expenditure is impossible due to inflated economic situation as it is in reality today, there is need for intervention for proper budget on the basis of the fact that, the current administration is desirous of making life better for the citizens
Charity Aiguobarueghian added that the bill, when passed into law, will enable the state to sustain the regular and timely payment of workers minimum wage, and attend to other social and economic infrastructures.
Speaking further, Charity Aiguobarueghian, who also doubles as the Majority Leader of the Edo House of Assembly, said that was clear that projects can no longer be executed because of the rising cost of inflation, noting that as the state economy booms, it is expedient that, there should be upward review towards financial costing, which made him to urge Honorable members to support the bill to pass through the second reading.
Speaking in support of the bill, Hon. Fada Eigberemonle who is the chairman house standing committee on appropriation, described the bill as a people oriented, noted that the bill when passed, will help the state government to meet all its financial obligations including salary payments and enable the current administration finish well.
Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu representing Esan West, and Hon. Sunday Ojiezele representing, Esan South-East spoke in support of the bill.
Also, a bill for law to establish the citizen right and dispute resolution agency was also considered, with Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian. stating that the bill will address the issues of arraignment of suspects in court, without representation, adding that, it will afford people who are being intimidated, harassed, oppressed or even sent to prison to have a place to run to, for free and adequate representation
The house later proceeded into committees after both bills were passed, and the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Blessing Agbebaku thereafter directed that, clean copies of the bill should be send to the Governor Obaseki for assent.
Also, a motion for a bill for law to amend the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources law 2019 and bill for law to establish the citizen right and dispute resolution agency was also moved by Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, who maintained that it is no longer news that the institution, in collaboration with other Agriculture investors in the State, now gives training and employment opportunities to Edo people.
Hon. Aiguobarueghian harped on the need for those who understand Agriculture to be allowed to pilot the affairs of the institution. Hon. Kingsley Ugabi, and the Deputy Speaker, Rt.Hon. Mariam Edekor described the bill as a laudable one, and commended Governor Obaseki for collaborating with the private sector and spreading the institution across the three senatorial districts
