Commissioner DJ Wysei: Award-winning DJ, singer, drummer queen taking the world by strom

Global entertainer, award winning Disc Jockey, singer, and super beat producer, Commissioner DJ Wysei, whose real name is Ebere Iwuagu, has said that her passion for music and entertainment is driven by her desire to make a positive impact on her audience spanning across the world.

The multiple award-winning disc jockey, who has been recognized by CNN and BBC, stated during a recent interview with reporters that she draws inspiration from her experiences and her desire to be unique.

"While growing up, I always told myself that anything I wanted to do, I must do it well. I try to be unique with my performances and every other thing," she explained.

DJ Wysei, who has released a single titled "Ojuju," noted that her style and charisma set her apart from other disc jockeys. "My friends tell me my hair is more popular than my name, and that’s true. Whenever my hair is covered, most people don’t recognize me. They have to look twice to be sure it’s Commissioner DJ Wysei; of a truth the hairstyle is just like a brand sing for me. Also, the way I perform and entertain people sets me apart," she said.

The drummer queen, who has performed at numerous high-profile events shared some of the most defining moment of her career, such as when she saw herself on CNN: "it was a day I will never forget" DJ Wysei said. She also made mention of when she hosted her first show tagged 'Commissioner festival' in 2023 with over 7000 guests in attendance; "it was amazing " she recalled.

However the young and vibrant disc jockey 'DJ wysei' revealed that she faces challenges in the male-dominated disc jockey industry. "Initially, I wasn’t well-accepted. There was a time I was told I couldn’t play at a party because I was a female DJ. But, I didn’t give up. I had to prove myself and deliver amazing performances," she stated.

Commissioner DJ Wysei, who is named as one of the most influential female disc jockeys in Africa: urged young people to take charge of their lives and pursue their passions. "I don’t believe in sitting around and waiting for the government to do everything. As a youth, what are you doing for yourself? Are you just sitting and waiting for money to fall from heaven? You can start in a small way, just like many of us did," she said.

The entertainer, who has a large following on social media, expressed her gratitude to her fans for their support. "The only thing I have to say to my fans is that 'I love them.' I love the fact that they are supporting me. Actually, they keep me going," she said.

In the next five years, Commissioner DJ Wysei sees herself acquiring more skills as a disc jockey and showing the world different styles. "I also want to change the narrative of disc jockeys in Nigeria and take the Commissioners Festival outside the country," she revealed.
