Court Jails Two Yola Youths Over Phone Snatching
Magistrate sentences each convict to five years and orders compensation for victim

The Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola, Adamawa State, has sentenced two young men, Samaila Musa and Suhailu Ismail, to five years in prison each for allegedly accosting a woman and forcefully taking her mobile phone. The two were convicted on charges of criminal conspiracy and extortion.
The case followed a complaint by Habiba Bello of Chochi Rumde Ward, who told police that the convicts attacked her on June 24, 2026, while she was on her way home and took her Infinix phone. Police prosecutor, Inspector Kabiru Abubakar, presented the allegation before the court.
Magistrate Zainab Buba Adamu sentenced Musa, 25, and Ismail to two years each for criminal conspiracy, with an option of a N200,000 fine, and three years each for extortion without an option of a fine. The court ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
The court also ordered the two convicts to pay N70,000 in compensation to the complainant. The sentences were handed down after the court found them guilty of the offences brought against them.
