Delta youth exco allegedly killed over leadership tussle
A man identified as Ogboru Keneghe, vice chairman of Udurhie Youth of Oghareki in Oghara, Delta State, has allegedly been killed over a leadership tussle of the group.
Ogboru was allegedly murdered by persons loyal to the chairman of the group, whom the deceased had confronted regarding certain benefits he had been denied of by the virtue of his position.
It was gathered that a day before his death, the deceased made a video recording, lamenting that he and some other persons had not been receiving sufficient entitlements for years, accusing the chairman, popularly know as Ese Neko, of highhandedness.
According to sources, after Ogboru complained about the development, he was asked to wait until the tenure of the chairman, who is entitled to three years in office, expires.
Ogboru and a number of persons were said to have been attacked and killed, after insisting that the tenure of the current chairman had expired and should vacate the position for him.
He declared himself as the new chairman of Udurhie community in Oghareki, which infuriated the opposing group and ignited the crisis.
Peace has been restored to the area after the deployment of personnel of the Nigerian army.
