Eight killed as bandits blow up Zamfara bridge
At least eight people were reportedly killed when an explosive suspected to have been planted by bandits, went off along the Gusau-Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday in the morning, when the victims were travelling in a Volkswagen Golf car to Gusau from Maru.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, reports that suspected bandits planted the explosives.
The attack is the second of its kind within a week as bandits detonated a device planted at Mai Gamme bridge along the same route on Sunday, ahead of a planned attack on residents of the Ungwan Galadima community.
When contacted, Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara police command, said he was still trying to gather information on the incident.
