#EndBadGovernance: Police watch as thugs beat protesters, harass journalist in Rivers
Thugs on Wednesday, attacked and beat up peaceful #EndBadGovernance protesters in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Day 7 of the demonstration.
According to Channels Television, whose female reporter was harassed, before the journalist got to the scene of the assault, two protesters had already been beaten while police officers stood by and did nothing.
The publication said the journalist was surrounded and threatened by the thugs, who stated they were there to ensure no protest would take place today.
The Federal Secretariat on the Port Harcourt /Aba express road has been a gathering point for the protesters since the start of the nationwide protests on August 1.
Nigerians have been demonstrating against hunger and rising cost of food.
It was said that over 20 police officers witnessed the attack on innocent protesters, as well as the incident with the Channels Television reporter but looked away.
