From Sefwi Wiaso to the World: The Rise of Nana Mitch

Nana Mitch holds the distinction of being Ghana’s first Snapchat lens creator

From the peaceful town of Sefwi Wiaso, Padmond “Nana Mitch” Annor has emerged as a trailblazing force in Africa’s digital and creative landscape.

He is not just designing Snapchat lenses—he is engineering immersive cultural experiences that are reshaping how Africa views itself and how the world engages with African identity, one filter at a time. His story is one of vision, creativity, and an unyielding commitment to purpose.

A pioneering talent, Nana Mitch holds the distinction of being Ghana’s first Snapchat lens creator, a title that only hints at his broader creative scope. With roots deeply connected to his twin brother and collaborator, Padmond Annor Jr. (known as Schardo Mitch), he grew up navigating life between Sefwi Wiaso, Kumasi, and Tema.

His academic journey took him through Grace Preparatory School, Great Faith Preparatory School, and Better Best Academy before graduating from Ofori Panin Senior High School in 2016.

He later refined his storytelling and editing skills at the prestigious National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Editing.

Nana Mitch’s venture into lens creation began in December 2015 when he identified a significant gap in Snapchat’s lens offerings: the absence of lenses reflecting Ghanaian culture and identity. This realization sparked a creative mission. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he further honed his craft through a virtual lens studio program, emerging with sharper skills and a clear artistic vision

Together with his twin, he co-founded Schardo TV and Productions, a vibrant multimedia outfit capturing contemporary Ghanaian narratives. Their projects have touched on everything from culture and fashion to politics and national celebrations, including Ghana’s 65th Independence Day festivities.

His standout works include the popular “4 More For Nana” lens, created for President Nana Akufo-Addo, demonstrating his knack for blending technology with political and cultural relevance. Nana Mitch has also made waves in the fashion and food industries, notably modeling for Nigerian music mogul Don Jazzy’s “Jazzy Burger” campaign.

Expanding his creative influence, Nana Mitch recently served as the creative director for the billboard campaign of Porials Pitch, a high-profile African trade fair led by entrepreneur Dulcie Boateng. His role in this project highlighted his growing stature as a visionary in visual storytelling and brand strategy.

His digital lens designs have gained continental appeal, with custom creations commissioned by top-tier Nigerian celebrities such as Bobrisky, Eniola Badmus, and Zlatan, as well as Ghanaian stars like Sister Derby and Hajia4Real.

Beyond digital art, Nana Mitch and his brother have ventured into lifestyle entrepreneurship with their fragrance line, Relief by MB. In 2024, they released the deeply personal documentary From Sefwi to Accra, chronicling their inspiring journey from a small Ghanaian town to national recognition.

As a social media influencer, Nana Mitch’s impact continues to grow. He has collaborated with major brands across Ghana and Nigeria, including Pizzaman Chickenman, SMS Properties, Ridge Condos, and Jays Finder. In 2024, his brand ambassador roles expanded to include Clozar Africa, Duffy’s Health & Beauty, LifeTaste, and CompuGhana, confirming his status as a sought-after voice in regional marketing.

His contributions to African creativity have not gone unnoticed. Nana Mitch was honored on the prestigious Keep Walking Top 30 list by Johnnie Walker and Trace TV, recognized as one of Africa’s Next-Gen Cultural Shapeshifters—a fitting title for a creative rewriting the rules of digital storytelling in Africa.
