Heavy security presence, Lagos, Abuja streets deserted as nationwide protests begin
Streets of Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, have been deserted, as the #EndBadGovernance protests kick off across the nation.
The Lekki toll gate, the significant venue of the 2020 #EndSARS protest in Lagos, was largely deserted but rather taken over by security agencies which comprise of police and soldiers.
The Ojota Freedom Park and Peace Park in Ketu, where protesters in Lagos have been restricted to, are deserted. Members of the Take-it-Back-Movement who are mobilising youths for the demonstrations are not in sight as of the time of this report.
Few protesters in Abuja gathered at the MKO Stadium where they have also been restricted to.
However, Ikeja came alive with a stream of protesters who began a march from Ikeja Under Bridge area enroute Alausa, the seat of power in the state.
Meanwhile, Kaduna and Rivers State are replicas of ghost states as shops are shut and transport systems paralysed.
