How Big Brother Naija Broke My Heart – Ekima
Nigeria’s Afrobeats star Ekima has revealed the relationship between her new song titled “My Vibe” and the Big Brother Naija reality show.
According to her, she was inspired to write the song after failing to qualify at the audition of the ongoing Season 9 of the show which is titled “No Loose Guard.”
Ekima, whose real name is Mamunah Blessing Mohammed, an Igala from Kogi State, has been living and thriving in Ghana for the past nine years.
At the unveiling of her new single, Ekima said it’s been her dream to participate in Big Brother Naija since 2021. She was, however, prevented in that first instance by issues with her international passport, which made it impossible for her to sail through.
“In 2023, when I had prepared to participate, they made it an all-star affair, and in 2024, they made it a duo which was painful and depressing for someone like me who’s single. It’s sad enough to know you’re not in a relationship, now imagine how it feels when you’re denied participating in your dream reality show because you don’t have a romantic partner or someone you’ve built a relationship with over time enough to give you enough courage that you can win the game. It was during this period I vowed that I would not allow BBNaija’s disappointment to kill my vibe,” she said.
According to Ekima, the song is dedicated to every young person who’s dealing with one disappointment or the other; its message is for them to remain focused on their dreams and conquer the world.
