How BLord gave me my first million naira – Young Duu
Talented singer, Oluwabamishe Lukman Abioro, professionally known as Young Duu, has revealed that cryptocurrency billionaire BLord, gave him his first million naira.
Young Duu disclosed this in an exclusive interview on TMY Podcast, which Nna Paul Zaccheaus was the content director.
Young Duu, who recently released a single titled “Lamba”, spoke on his journey in the music industry, including his association with record label, Zen Nation, and Efe Carter. He explained that he was nicknamed “Young Duu” back in his secondary school days, due to his vibe-filled sounds.
The artiste opened up on his struggles and frustration triggered by unfair treatments and unfulfilled obligations on the part of former associates. He touched on a proposed payment of N500,000, which he later considered insufficient as compensation. Young Duu clarified that he was not officially signed to Zen Nation but had a record agreement with them. The entertainer bemoaned the lack of benefits from the agreement, emphasizing that the only tangible goody from it was a car—which he had to return. During the interview, the conversation highlighted the challenges Nigerian artistes face, with comparison drawn in tandem with the experiences some footballers, who find themselves on the side of wrong deals.
Young Duu shared his transition from Zen Nation to Efe Carter, stressing the mental toll the relationship added to an already volatile mental health. The thriving singer also recounted his ordeal and conflict with Carter over unpaid benefits and the lack of support. Young Duu talked about his resolve to seek justice through divine intervention. The entertainer harped on the lessons he has learnt from his depressing experiences and the importance of standing up for rights.
Young Duu spoke about the mental health challenges artistes face due to unfulfilled promises and wrong deals in the Nigerian music industry. He related his challenges to the case of MohBad—a fellow artist—who faced similar issues with his former label and ultimately passed away in 2023. He bemoaned the public perception of Young Duu, with the society expecting him to have money and properties, despite his struggles.
Left with choosing between the rock and a hard place over the episodes, Young Duu has moved on in his career, taking with him the imperatives. At least, he had one momentous experience with BLord. He spoke about the generosity and kindness of crypto gur, revealing “how he gave him his first million”. He stressed how he supported his career but could not follow through with the deal they were working on, because of the unnecessary distractions created around the businessman by the Nigeria police.
Oluwabamishe Lukman Abioro, who is currently working on a project, highlighted his dire need for support and financial backing to advance his music career. He did not shy away from his desperation for brand support, opportunities to perform at shows and collaborate with colleagues in the industry.
