I regret not having children — Singer Mary J. Blige

American singer Mary J. Blige has opened up about her decision not to have children, revealing that she made it after witnessing the struggles her family members faced. At the same time, raising children influenced her choice when she was younger.
Speaking on the Michelle Obama Podcast, Blige explained that she watched relatives struggle with childcare and sacrifice their freedom, which made her decide against having children.
“When I was younger, I saw my family members struggle raising kids, needing babysitters, not having freedom, so when I was younger I made the choice not to have any kids”
However, the singer admitted that as she grew older, her perspective began to change after seeing the value and bond her family members share with their teenage children.
“But now as I got older and get to see how their teenagers are valuable to them, I sometimes regret not having them early too”
Blige’s comments highlight how perspectives on parenthood can evolve with age and life experiences.
