LG and NVIDIA Sign Deal to Build Next-Generation Humanoid Robots
The companies are expanding their partnership across robotics, AI factories and mobility, with LG planning to unveil a new NVIDIA-powered bipedal humanoid robot in early 2027.

LG and NVIDIA have signed a new memorandum of understanding that expands their collaboration into humanoid robotics, AI factories and next-generation mobility. The partnership moves beyond earlier discussions and into concrete development, with LG working on a bipedal humanoid robot built around NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T foundation model. The companies signed the agreement on August 13 at NVIDIA’s headquarters in California.
The centerpiece of the partnership is LG’s next-generation humanoid robot, which is expected to be publicly unveiled in the first quarter of 2027. The robot will use NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T platform for reasoning and robotics development, while NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor technology will provide onboard computing for advanced processing, control and physical interaction. LG plans to combine technologies from several of its businesses, including sensors, actuators and batteries.
The collaboration also extends to industrial automation. LG plans to deploy its wheeled CLOiD robots at a washing-machine manufacturing facility in Tennessee, where the machines will be tested on an actual production line. The goal is to bring physical AI into manufacturing environments, allowing robots to perform useful tasks while working alongside existing industrial systems.
Beyond robotics, LG and NVIDIA are working on the development of AI factories. LG plans to establish an AI-factory reference site using NVIDIA Vera Rubin hardware during the first half of 2027, followed by plans for an 80-megawatt AI factory in Cheonan, South Korea, targeted for completion in the first half of 2028. The companies are also exploring NVIDIA’s DRIVE Hyperion platform for future AI-defined vehicles.
The partnership highlights NVIDIA’s broader push into physical AI, where artificial intelligence moves beyond software and begins controlling machines, robots and vehicles in the real world. For LG, the agreement combines its expertise in manufacturing, electronics, batteries and robotics with NVIDIA’s AI computing and robotics platforms. If the project reaches its planned milestones, the 2027 humanoid unveiling could mark an important step in LG’s ambition to become a major player in the emerging physical-AI industry.
