Man whose passport was ‘torn’ backtracks, says it was skit after wife’s arrest
A Nigerian man who shared a video of his wife allegedly tearing his passport at the international airport last week, has described the incident as as a “skit”.
In the video, which generated a national uproar, with many Nigerians condemning the act of mutilating a national identity and property of the Federal Government, the man was seen being pacified by fellow travellers and some airport officials after he appeared livid over the incident.
In the video, the wife clearly admitted to tearing the passport.
The woman later published another video in which she said she had her reasons for tearing her husband’s passport.
The mother-of-two added that she intentionally tore the document at the airport in Nigeria, so the husband would not be able to travel back.
In response, the husband also released a video of his own, telling the world that his wife is the problem. He then released an extended video of the altercation at the airport and added that he knew his wife would create a scene, so he gave his friend his phone to film her actions.
It was reported that afterwards, officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), arrested the woman and took her to Abuja for questioning.
However, in the latest video with his two children, man claimed that it was just a skit and blamed bloggers for making the video go viral. According to him, he showed his passport to NIS officers, to prove that his wife never tore his passport.
“I’m here with my kids to send an appeal to the public of Nigeria, to the whole world also, that what my wife tore, is not passport.
“Please be a blogger, when you’re blogging, blog and blog well. Don’t go and blog to spoil things, please.
“She never tore my passport, she never spoilt my passport. My passport is intact.”
“We’re doing a skit.”
