An unconfirmed number of persons have reportedly been injured after a petrol tanker exploded in the Maitama district of Abuja on Monday night.
The incident, which was was said to have occurred along Shehu Shagari Way, left many people injured, including passengers in a commercial vehicle.
Some of those injured in the fire incident were reportedly rushed to the Maitama General Hospital for medical attention.
At the time of this report, emergency responders were said to have arrived at the accident scene.
“I saw victims being brought in for emergency care,” a witness said.
Another witness said the driver of the truck escaped after the vehicle tip over, causing the explosion.
The authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
