Mbappe is new captain of France
Kylian Mbappe has been named as Hugo Lloris’ replacement as captain of the French national team.
Antoine Griezmann will be the vice-captain, despite reports in the French media suggesting he was questioning his international future after being overlooked for the captaincy.
Mbappe, the highest scorer at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where France emerged runners-up to Argentina, is set to lead the team during Les Blues upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against The Netherlands and Ireland.
The PSG star’s selection as captain had reportedly upset Griezmann, who it was gathered felt ‘hurt’ at being overlooked for the role, according to L’Equipe.
