NIFS Restates Commitment to Nigeria and Global Film Industry

A significant highlight of this year’s Summit was the deliberate involvement of Ghanaian colleagues and partners

The Founder/CEO of the Nigeria International Film and TV Summit (NIFS), Ijeoma Onah, reaffirmed her dedication to the growth of the Creative Industry, particularly Film and TV, in Nigeria and globally. She made this statement at the opening of the 2024 Summit at the Legend Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including the Ghana Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Nollywood actors, film producers, marketers, financiers, students, and international personalities and institutions.
Onah emphasized the Summit’s mission of fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth in the Nigerian film and TV sector. “Our goal is to provide a platform for industry practitioners to exchange ideas, develop partnerships, and discover new opportunities for growth,” she said.

The first day of the Summit featured insightful discussions and speeches from key industry figures, academics, and policymakers.
Onah expressed satisfaction with the enriching conversations, which offered fresh perspectives and practical solutions.
The Ghanian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, commended the organizers of the 2024 Summit for their resilience and steadfastness over the years.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present Ghana’s perspectives on the film industry to Nigerians and called for robust partnerships between the two countries.
Mercer highlighted the significance of African cinema on the global stage and emphasized the need for collaboration and investment in talent development and infrastructure. He advocated for a Nigeria-Ghana partnership in film development to drive economic growth, create jobs, and foster cultural exchange.
Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting the creative industries, particularly Nollywood. He emphasized Lagos’ dedication to creating a conducive environment for the film industry to thrive.
