NSA, SGF, 40 ministers in emergency meeting over planned nationwide protest
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, are meeting with ministers in Abuja, over the planned nationwide protest by youths against hardship in the country
According to Channels Television, the meeting, which is currently being held behind closed doors, has more than 40 ministers in attendance.
Some of the Minister said to be present are: Nyesom Wike (FCT), Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Zephaniah Jisalo (Special Duties), Tahir Mamman (Education), and Abubakar Bagudu (Budget and Planning).
Others are Wale Edun (Finance), Mohammed Idris (Information), Bello Matawalle (Defence), David Umahi (Works), amongst others.
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, appealed to Nigerians to shelve the planned ‘EndBadGovernance’ protest slated for August 1 to 10.
The protest against economic hardship, which is gaining traction on social media, has been scheduled to be held across the nation, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
