Osasu Okoro: I want to be the first Nigerian to coach in Premier League.

In the evolving world of football and the highly competitive job of coaching, Coach Osasu Okoro has set an ambitious goal for himself to achieve.

The head coach of DD sport Academy Osasu Okoro said recently during an interview session with journalists that ” my ambition is to be the first Nigerian to coach in the English Premier League”

When asked the reason why he has set such a high vision for himself; Osasu Okoro said,  “In 2015 Ricardo Badal a former Lazio player said to me back then that you can be the first Nigerian to coach in the Premier League. Those words were like a prophetic declaration for me, and  I want fo work towards achieving it.

Coach Osasu Okoro has won trophies and medals in his coaching duties. Lately Osasu Okoro had the opportunity to lead the Lagos GTbank CTM UNIT to win the national Gtbank Orange League for the bank professionals.

” The opportunity to work with GTbank came through a church member who told me about the GTBANK CTM unit and their challenges in winning”. Coach Osasu said.  He was later given the privilege to lead their bankers to the league.

In the words of Osasu Okoro, “they allowed me to lead the team although with some doubts; but I knew the ability and capacity that God has given me”.

He started work with the team and he discovered that most of them knew how to play football, but they were not well managed. He swiftly played them against his DD SPORT ACADEMY team in some friendly matches which he used to check their abilities and built on them.

“As soon as the GT Orange League started, my team scaled through all the stages and qualified to the regional finals without losing a match”, said Osasu Okoro.

He further said that the Lagos team which he coached had never won the League before but with him as the coach, they got to the national finals and won against a northern region with a 4-0 winning scoreline.

” Winning the Orange League for them made me happy with the fact that Lagos had not won the trophy before”, Osasu Okoro said.
