Air India says: “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today”
The plane is understood to have been carrying more than 200 passengers
It appears to have crashed in a residential area, our South Asia correspondent reports
India’s aviation minister says “we are on highest alert”, as “rescue teams have been mobilised”.
