Rising star Big Berry set to drop first EP during yuletide

Emerging Nigerian music talent, Musa Abdulmalik, better known as Big Berry, has revealed plans to release his first Extensive Play (EP) during the 2024 yuletide season.

Big Berry, a final year student of Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State and one of 12 children, discovered his talent at a young age and despite family and environmental obstacles, he forged the fortitude to chase his dream, driven by the idea of promoting “love and peace” through music globally.

“My upbringing wasn’t easy but I have to choose a better life for me self and family. My mother has been the most supportive woman to other people children and she has been given me every reason to treat the world with love and peace,” he stated in an exclusive interview.

Big Berry comes from a polygamous home and hails from Edo. He does Amapiono, Afro beat and Hip pop as genres of music to easily relate with the Nigerian audience and global music base. The singer has been confronted with convincing his doubters with every ounce of talent residue in him, expressing that the lowest point of his journey so far has been “chasing dreams people don’t believe he can achieve.”

He has, however, remained resolute and focused on his aspirations which has motivated him to perspire.

“My memorable moment is when I’m in the studio recording because I choose to make my music for love and peace, so I must be happy when ever I’m writing my song. It hasn’t been easy so far but hard work is what keeps me going because nothing good comes easy,” Big Berry stated.

Musa Abdulmalik is inspired by Wizkid, Burna Boy and Rema, but his greatest conquest is being conscious of the obstacle he posses to himself, in the context of realising his dreams.

“My role model are Wizkid, Burna boy and Rema and the only challenge is between me and me because everyday I become better and good,” the rising star stated.

The end of the year is generally a boom for entertainers, most times defying the economic climate, such as what is currently prevalent in Nigeria. However, Big Berry, who got his stage name from friends in higher institution, plans to further penetrate the market.

“Planning on releasing my first EP and it’s going to be amazing for all over the world. My Ep is coming,” he said when asked if there are planned Christmas gig or events his fans can look up to.
