Rwanda appoint Coach Amarouche for World Cup showdown with Super Eagles

Rwanda have announced the appointment of Adel Amarouche as their new coach ahead of a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles later this month.

The appointment was contained in a statement by the Rwanda football association, FERWAFA.

Amarouche, a midfielder in his playing days, has replaced the German Thorsten Spittler, whose contract was not renewed when it ran out late last year.

His assistants are Eric Nshimiyimana and Carolin Braun.

The 56-year-old Amaroucche has handled various African countries including Tanzania, Botswana, Libya, Kenya and Equatorial Guinea.

Rwanda are top of Group C with seven points from four matches.

They welcome the Super Eagles to Kigali on March 21 in continuation of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
