Three Suspected Cultists, Armed Robbers Nabbed in Ibadan Police Raid
Intelligence-led operation leads to recovery of locally made firearm and dangerous weapons in Oyo State

Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested three suspected cultists and armed robbery suspectsduring a targeted security operation in Ibadan, recovering a locally fabricated pistol and other dangerous weapons. Police said the raid was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of the suspects, who were allegedly linked to cult-related violence and robbery in parts of the state.
According to the command, officers stormed the suspects’ hideout after gathering actionable intelligence, leading to the successful arrest of the trio without casualties. During the operation, security personnel recovered a locally made pistol, ammunition and other incriminating items believed to have been used in criminal activities. The suspects are currently in police custody while investigators work to determine their involvement in other reported crimes across the state.
The police described the operation as part of an intensified campaign against cultism, armed robbery and other violent crimes in Oyo State. Authorities said intelligence-led policing and sustained surveillance remain central to ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal gangs and improve public safety. They also assured residents that more operations would be carried out to rid communities of criminal elements.
