Tracy Edwin shares her sexual harassment experience in Nollywood

Tracy’s early experience in Nollywood was refreshingly different

Okechukwu Chidimma Tracy, known by her Instagram moniker Tracy Edwin, is one of Nollywood’s rising stars whose beauty and poise are hard to overlook.

With her enviable curves and towering height, she commands attention wherever she goes. However, it’s not just her appearance that leaves a lasting impression—it’s her resilience, dedication, and unwavering passion for her craft.

In a world where actresses are often subjected to uncomfortable advances or exploitation, Tracy’s early experience in Nollywood was refreshingly different. Despite her attractiveness, she was never a victim of harassment. “I didn’t experience anything like that,” she revealed. “The producers were the ones asking me to act. They would say, ‘Who’s this plumpy fine girl?’ They needed me, but I wasn’t available for them. They were calling me for jobs, but I kept rejecting them because I was still in university then.”

Balancing her academic pursuits with her budding acting career was no small feat, but Tracy made it clear that her education came first. This sense of discipline and purpose continues to guide her career decisions, including the types of roles she accepts. While open to intimate scenes, she draws a firm line when it comes to nudity. “I’m fine with intimate roles, at least for now. Maybe that will change when I’m married, but I don’t plan on giving up my career for anyone,” she said. “I’ve done that before, and it left me depressed—I won’t do it again.”

Tracy’s hiatus from Nollywood was deeply personal. She revealed that familial pressure once led her to step away from acting. “There was this guy my family wanted me to get involved with, and they didn’t want me to go into acting,” she shared. “So, I had to quit. My dad was no more, and my sister was the one training me in university. I tried to cope with the situation, but I couldn’t, and that’s why I returned to the industry after six years.”

Her return to Nollywood has been met with much admiration, particularly from men, although many find her height and beauty intimidating. Tracy shared that men often pretend to be indifferent, only to circle back with subtle advances. “At first, they would pretend as if they didn’t like me, but before you knew it, they would start coming closer to me. They use this attitude to draw my attention,” she laughed. “They always say, ‘I don’t like her because she’s a snub.’ But I am not—I don’t snub people.”

When asked to describe herself, Tracy portrayed a woman of substance. “I would describe myself as disciplined, straightforward, and lovable,” she said, adding that while she has a romantic side, she is not one to get hopelessly swept away.

With her blend of beauty, talent, and resilience, Tracy Edwin is proving that she is more than just a pretty face in Nollywood—she is a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the screen.
