Two suspects arrested for stealing police signpost in Kano during #EndBadGovernance protest
The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects for carting away a police station signpost during this month’s #EndBadGovernance protest across the country.
Nigerian youths had stormed the streets to protest against hunger, hardship, rising inflation, insecurity, unemployment, among others, between August 1 and 10.
However, while the demonstrations were largely peaceful in the south, it took a violent turn in most parts of the north. In Kano, where protesters were seen carrying Russian flags, they looted and razed public and private properties.
Among the things looted were a police signpost at Bachirawa, in Ungogo Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the arrest, spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed the development on Wednesday, said the suspects were arrested with the help of residents in the area.
“We are grateful to the people of Bachirawa,” he added.
