Warri gives Mr. Paul standing ovation

Comedian Paul Olope, better known as Mr. Paul, brought down the house during his annual comedy show, “Mr. Paul on the Mic: No Place Like Home,” held on August 11 in Warri.
The show, which sold out, was a testament to the comedian’s immense popularity in his hometown.
A native of Warri, Mr. Paul has been making audiences laugh for over two decades. Renowned for his ability to connect with his audience and deliver sharp, witty humour, he has carved a unique niche in the Nigerian comedy scene.
The “Mr. Paul on the Mic” show was more than just a comedy night; it was a homecoming celebration. The comedian’s performance was met with thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the packed crowd, a clear indication of their adoration for their homegrown talent.
Beyond entertaining his fans, Mr. Paul also used the platform to support up-and-coming comedians.
As part of the show, he hosted a comedy challenge sponsored by the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OVP) on Digital and Creative Economy. The top three contestants won cash prizes and the opportunity to perform alongside established comedians.
When asked about his love for hosting the show in Warri, Mr. Paul explained, “I was born and raised here. This is where my comedy journey began before I moved to Lagos. This show is my way of giving back to the community that supported me. The comedy challenge is a testament to my commitment to nurturing young talent.”
