Young Nigerian Artist Hellasine drops Debut EP “Aquarius on the Road”
Nigerian artist Hellasine, born Daniel Hellasine Samuel, is gearing up for the release of his debut EP Aquarius on the Road, a project that blends Afrobeat, Afro Soul, and other genres close to the singer’s heart. The 19-year-old artist, who was born in Borno State and raised in Jos, Plateau, is making waves in the music industry with his deeply personal sound and independent drive. “I create from the heart, so expect honesty in every beat and lyric,” Hellasine shared in a recent interview.
Hellasine’s musical journey began at a young age, starting with casual drumming and rapping sessions in secondary school. “Every time I jumped in, I’d surprise everyone and bring a new energy,” he recalls, citing those moments as his “aha” realization that music was his calling. Since then, he has poured his energy into creating and recording music, with his first single, Money in the Bank, dropping in 2019.
The self-driven artist admits his path to the industry wasn’t easy. “I didn’t know much about the industry at first. All I had was a dream,” Hellasine explained. Using his mother’s phone to download free beats and even borrowing from her business fund to pay for studio time, he crafted his first track—a testament to his dedication. “That song never saw the light of day, but it was the beginning of a journey that taught me a lot.”
Hellasine, also known by the nickname “The Aquarius,” is influenced by major African artists like Joeboy, CKay, and Burna Boy. His upcoming project promises to deliver a fusion of Afrobeat, Afro Emo, and Street Gospel, showcasing his versatility and unique voice. “What sets me apart is my drive and independence. I don’t wait for opportunities—I create them,” he explained, highlighting his commitment to carving out his place in the industry.
The young artist, who has performed at several notable events, including NIC Chilling and Guinness Carnival, is currently focusing on finalizing Aquarius on the Road. “It’s a collection of songs that dive into my experiences with heartbreak, motivation, hustle, and everything in between,” Hellasine said of the EP. The project reflects his raw emotions and personal journey, with each track offering a different layer of his life experiences.
Despite being new to the mainstream music scene, Hellasine’s unique blend of sounds, coupled with his deep emotional connection to his art, makes him an artist to watch. “I want my music to heal, to inspire, and to connect on a deeper level,” he stated, emphasizing his goal to create music that transcends culture and borders. As he continues to rise, Hellasine is determined to make a lasting impact, both within his community and the world at large.
