The Advokc Foundation, a leading civic technology organization, has called on Nigerian youths to embrace positivity and become catalysts for positive change in their communities and the nation at large.
This call was made at the Civic Fest Africa ’24, an event aimed at inspiring and empowering young people to actively participate in civic engagement.
Speaking at the event, representatives from the Advokc Foundation and various stakeholders in the entertainment industry emphasized the importance of youth involvement in addressing the challenges facing Nigeria, such as economic hardship, insecurity, and rising cost of living. They urged young people to shift their focus from complaining to finding solutions and working collaboratively to create a better future.
The Civic Fest Africa ’24 featured a diverse range of activities, including spoken word performances, panel discussions with civic leaders, and musical acts. Attendees were encouraged to explore their creative potential and develop their civic skills.
One of the highlights of the event was the launch of the upgraded Promise Tracker platform, a civic tech tool designed to hold elected officials accountable for their campaign promises. The foundation expressed its commitment to using technology to promote transparency and accountability in governance.
In addition to the Civic Fest Africa ’24, the Advokc Foundation plans to organize a series of community events and partnerships to foster active citizenship across Africa. The foundation aims to inspire young people to use their talents and voices to create a more just and equitable society.
