Customs Intercepts Illicit Drugs in Two Containers at Tin Can Port, Hands Over to NDLEA
Seized narcotics concealed in imported vehicles have an estimated street value of over ₦5.3bn

The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Port Command, has intercepted two containers containing large quantities of illicit drugs concealed in imported vehicles and handed the seized substances over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
According to Customs, the first container, which originated from Montreal, Canada, was intercepted on September 4, 2025. A physical examination reportedly uncovered four vehicles containing 156 packets of Colorado Indica weighing 78kg and 1.2kg of hashish oil.
The second container was intercepted on October 24, 2025, and was also carrying four vehicles. Customs said officers discovered 2,081 packages of Cannabis Indica weighing 1,093kg and eight packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing 8kg concealed inside the consignment.
The combined street value of the drugs was estimated at ₦5.304 billion. Customs said the substances were formally handed over to the NDLEA in line with inter-agency procedures for investigation, prosecution and other necessary legal action.
