NAPTIP Seals Suspected Baby Factory, Arrests Three Over ₦13.5m Trafficking Proceeds

Agency shuts facility and detains suspects over alleged child trafficking activities

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has sealed a suspected baby factory and arrested three people over alleged involvement in child trafficking and the proceeds of the illegal trade. The operation reportedly uncovered financial transactions amounting to ₦13.5 million linked to the suspected activities.

The agency said the suspects are being investigated over allegations surrounding the recruitment and exploitation of vulnerable women and the illegal sale or trafficking of newborn babies. The facility has been shut as authorities work to establish the full extent of the operation.

NAPTIP operatives are also examining documents and other materials recovered during the operation as part of efforts to identify possible accomplices and determine whether more victims or buyers are connected to the alleged network.

The arrests come amid continued efforts by NAPTIP and other security agencies to dismantle baby factories and child-trafficking networks across Nigeria. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects remain presumed innocent unless found guilty by a court.
